Sweet Survivor
I took this image last summer of a Northern Elephant Seal pup while attending a Community Release by The Marine Mammal Center in Sausalito. Four Northern Elephant Seals and one California Sea Lion were released.
You will notice the red marking on the top of the head. Each seal was marked with a different color to make identification easier. This little guy made his way across the surface of the rocky shore, nervously looking back as if checking to see if it was okay for him to leave, or maybe taking one last look at those who nursed him back to health.
