History
Point Lobos history dates back 2500 years when Rumsien Indians seasonally lived here. Since 1851, groups of Chinese, Portuguese, Japanese, and Americans inhabited this land. Their commercial activities centered around Whalers Cove, which between 1850-1900 was virtually an international business park. Whalers Cabin Museum, itself part of the history, displays artifacts from all the peoples and their business enterprises.
